It wasn't easy surviving Jim Crow, a system that formalized racial segregation throughout the South, but my grandmother's generation had no choice, no place to run and hide.

Black elders have a lot to tell the younger generation. They faced a lot especially, racial discrimination. Therefore, they are indeed worth the royalty position.
