8 Magazines That Pay Writers $2000 Per Article
If you want to build your portfolio and your bank account, writing magazine articles is another way to do it.
The catch?
It’s difficult to get published in magazines, but not almost impossible. Many publications pay writers upwards of $2000 per article.
However, they’re usually more open to inexperienced writers because there are fewer submissions than in newspapers and websites.
Here are five magazines that pay up to $2000 per article and what you need to know about them before you start pitching.
National Geographic
National Geographic offers 3 levels of payment. For a story with a word count under 1,500 words, they offer $700. If the word count is between 1,500 and 2,500 words, the rate is $1,000. When the word count exceeds 2,500 words they will pay you up to $2,000 per story.
They also take reprints that are less than 10 years old but more than 5 years old and guarantee a minimum fee of $300 for these stories. All work is assigned on an assignment basis only, meaning they will not consider unsolicited submissions or proposals.
